About the Refina PD 23.2 Diamond Floor Grinder

The Refina PD 23.2 is a professional floor grinder for getting concrete and screed floors ready for new coverings. Its 1.5 kW motor drives a 230 mm diamond plate that grinds away old adhesive residue, paint, coatings, membranes and latex, and takes down high spots and trowel marks.

The twin handles give good control and stability, and the wheel height can be adjusted to control how hard the plate grinds. A rubber skirt and floating dust ring contain the dust, which is drawn away through a suitable extraction vacuum.

Best for

  • Removing old adhesive after lifting flood-damaged flooring
  • Grinding off paint, coatings and latex
  • Levelling high spots and trowel marks
  • Preparing concrete and screed for new floors

Questions about the Refina PD 23.2 Diamond Floor Grinder

What is it used for?+

Preparing concrete and screed floors, removing old adhesive, paint, coatings and latex, and levelling high spots before new flooring goes down.

How much floor can it do?+

Up to 40 m² an hour, depending on the surface and what is being removed.

Do I need a dust extractor?+

Yes. Grinding concrete creates fine, harmful dust. The grinder must be connected to a suitable dust-class extraction vacuum. [CONFIRM whether an extractor is available to hire with it.]

Is it heavy?+

It weighs 42 kg, so we deliver it. On site it moves easily on its wheels.

Which diamond plate comes with it?+

A 230 mm H7 multi-purpose plate with 8 diamond segments at 40 grit, suitable for grinding and levelling concrete and removing coatings and residues.

Do you deliver and collect?+

Yes. We deliver and collect across Wiltshire, Swindon, Bath, Bristol, Somerset and north Dorset, within roughly an hour of Trowbridge. We can set the machine up for you, or drop it off with instructions.

How long can I hire it for?+

By the day or by the week. Weekly hire works out cheaper, and most drying jobs need at least a week. Call us and we will advise how long your job is likely to take.

How much does it cost to hire?+

Call 07971 435221 or send an enquiry and we will give you a price for your dates, including delivery.

Is the machine checked before it goes out?+

Yes. Every machine is checked before each hire.

What if it stops working during the hire?+

Switch it off at the wall and call us. We will talk you through it or swap the machine.

Can you do the job for me instead?+

Yes. We handle the whole job, from drying and strip-out through to repairs and reinstatement. Call 07971 435221 to talk it through. Flood damage repairs

Safety information

General safety – tools and cleaning equipment

  • Read the operating instructions supplied before use. If you have not used this type of equipment before, ask us to show you how it works when we deliver it.
  • Wear the right protection for the job: safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves and safety boots, and a suitable dust mask wherever dust is created.
  • Check leads, plugs, hoses and blades before each use. Do not use anything that is damaged.
  • Use an RCD-protected supply. On 110V, use a correctly rated site transformer.
  • Keep power leads away from water, blades and moving parts, and route them so they are not a trip hazard.
  • Switch off and unplug (or remove the battery) before changing blades, filters or accessories, and before cleaning or moving the equipment.
  • Flood water can contain sewage and chemicals. Wear gloves, wash your hands after use, and do not eat or drink in the work area.
  • Where electrics may have been affected by flood water, do not use any sockets until they have been checked by a qualified electrician.
  • Keep children and pets away from the work area.
  • If the equipment makes an unusual noise, smells of burning or stops working, switch it off and call us on 07971 435221. Do not open the casing or attempt repairs.

Specific to this unit

  • Grinding concrete creates fine dust that can contain silica, which is harmful to breathe. Always connect the grinder to a suitable dust-class extraction vacuum (M or H class) and wear a properly fitted dust mask (FFP3 or better).
  • Old black bitumen adhesive can contain asbestos. If you are not sure, have it tested before grinding.
  • The grinder weighs 42 kg. Use two people to lift it, and move it on its wheels on site.
  • Wear hearing protection. It runs at around 79 dB(A).
  • On 110V, use a correctly rated site transformer.
